Disney Live Action Remakes: specifically Maleficent

This specific post actually came into existence wayyy back in those nebulous times before 'Cruella' had come out, and I wanted to make an early piece of predictive commentary, on whether I thought it would be any good, specifically because most of the rest of the Disney live-action lineup was terrifyingly inadequate in my estimation. This is because, I happen to like the concept behind remaking beloved childhood memories and once, back when I was naive enough to believe that capitalism would at least take the simplistic approach of, 'Let's go with the safe option and just make it the same but with real people on screen', I was woefully inaccurate in that hope. In its original form, this post was essentially my summing up of my opinions as presented in the project I had to do for my Film adaptations course, wherein I had to dissect a movie remake, and its literary source, and see where the differences lie, and why they happened at all. One of the options we had by de

Hello Freedom My Old Friend

Ever since my 12 th exams were over and done with (which, mind you, was only about a month ago, give or take).   Well I’ve had this nigh overwhelming feeling of emptiness. As all my fellow survivors of 12 th grade in India can attest, the sudden feeling of FREE time is difficult to come to terms with, especially when you are used to having all of your time mapped out into study this, then study that, rinse, alter, repeat. End excerpt from my unpublished post.... New one ahoy. My point still stands though.  The Indian educational system is built on an extremely unsteady foundation of non stop cramming. Not a single blink-of-an-eye is spared for such trivial things as hobbies and mental health, to the point where the kids who get spat out of the system don't even remember what kind of things they used to do for "fun". That's not ok, no matter how many Indian parents believe that a slightly larger chance of their children becoming big shot doctors or engineers and ra

End my Haitus and What to do Now

Can you, whomever you are, please do me a favor. Can you and I just agree to pretend that I didn't disappear for as long as I did without any apparent reason. Thank you for your help. So.... It's not like I didn't know that the net I cast was way too large, to find a decent topic for each post. It may come as no surprise that I'm an idiot in terms of knowing if and how I can write. So i have decided to write in the manner of reviews and only reviews. They'll probably be more like academic analysations, mostly because I have the most familiarity with that style of thinking. Thank you for your time. My ranting about things is a given though so those aren't going away either.

Always Fall Down, Never Stay Down

Its that time of year again! When stress and worries become the anthem, and failures seem like biblical beasts, inconcorable. Some people lose their will to fight the moment they are faced with footfalls. Some folk prepare as if they are going off to war, but as the stress mounts, they go blank. They sabotage themselves and then mentally beat up a tiny version of themselves for what they perceive as an unforgivable offence.   After this comes the advice. The helpful suggestions, the further condemnations .The best advice that anyone can give- or receive- about life is, to go through life like an infant. When a baby is just learning to walk, there are bound to be failures. No baby has ever just gotten up and walked. They get up, they stumble, they fall, but most importantly they never get discouraged, they never fall down and then stay down. No matter how hard the floor is, no matter if their adults are frightened for them; at best they’ll wait maybe 10 minutes before they are right

Momentary relief: Hello angst my old friend

Sorry for not writing for a while. I had drafted this so long ago but can only publish now. So this is it. Have you seen the  new show from DC, 'TITANS'.Well, today I just got off of a set of pre- pre-pre-board exams, and another one due in like two weeks, less than. Well anyway, my sister thought it would be a great idea to watch a movie today, y'know family bonding. So, my mom  had us prepping the bed for the whole family to use as a theater. While pawning most of the work off to me, my sister got herself a turn on the computer till the movie could start, and pulled up an episode of TITANS. See shes already watched EVERYTHING till like JASON TODD and she told me that they were good. They were great for like the first 20 minutues give or take. The rest flat out annoyed me. See, in my opinion the only thing that DC has ever had going for it that Marvel could never match was... ethnic diversity, to be extra specific EUROPEAN ETHNIC DIVERSITY , which is something that so man

An Elementary School Classroom in a Slum

This poem was written by Stephen Spender, a guy with an extensive rap sheet in the genre of politically and socially inclined commentary. I'm not entirely sure when he visited the slum that this poem is based in, but he has such a melancholic way of describing things that, I am forced to conclude that this happened at a time when conditions were devolving faster than people could try to remedy them, and all that without any help form the authorities whose iron fists seem to rule these places, even through the dust choked air and the cheap squalor! Now, the poem begins by painting the portraits of the children. They are located rather inland and, subsequently in a place that closes them off from the outside world in such a way, that even the gusty waves seem like fairytales, pointless and with fuzzy details. Most of these children look like the soil of a parched garden overrun with weeds of such a rootless nature, that even they cannot thrive there. The first child is a girl, tall

Loving a Subject but being Utterlly Retched at it!

Confessions... I love theoretical physics, biology, literature, history, political science and a whole lot of other topics. This wouldn't really be an issue if I actually good at math or memorization, neither of whom are problems if you are a professional, they can however be major speed bumps if your only learning. If you happen to be wondering what brought this on, then look no further than my edx dashboard. I took up a course on the violent universe- astrophysics, for anyone who doesn't get the connection between this and my list of lovelies. Well anyway, turns out, you need to understand another of newton's 'gifts to the world' to be able to comprehend this course, calculus. Which I guess won't be much of a problem at the end of this year perhaps but for now, we have only just begun calculus at school, so I have nearly no idea what the math is supposed to mean.. yet! So until the teacher makes some headway -at least the first lesson- I can't peruse the
